Indian meatballs in masala sauce

Ingredients

For the Koftas

  • 350 g Minced meat or another meat of your choice
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 3 Garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 1/2 TL Turmeric Ground
  • 1/2 TL Coriander powder
  • 1/2 TL Cumin
  • 2-3 EL Coriander leaves chopped
  • Vegetable oil

For the sauce

  • 400 g Canned tomatoes chopped
  • 150-200 g Whipped cream or coconut milk
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 EL Ginger Freshly grated
  • 1 TL Turmeric
  • 1 EL Garam Masala
  • Olive oil

Instructions

For the balls

  • Mix the meat with all the other ingredients for the koftas. Shape into small balls.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the balls in it. Then set aside

For the sauce

  • Sauté the onion and ginger lightly in oil, add the turmeric and garam masala.
  • Add the tinned tomatoes and stir well.
  • Add the whipped cream/coconut milk and cook the balls.
  • Switch back to a medium heat setting. Cover the saucepan/pan.
  • Turn the balls from time to time and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • To serve, take a deep plate and arrange the sauce and koftas on it. Serve with rice or naan.
