Kashmiri chillies are a quite mild chilli variety from India. They owe their name to the Kashmir region. The chillies have a wonderful red colour and are very suitable for adding a beautiful colour to curries due to their mild fruity aroma. Due to their mild flavour, the chilli powder can be used more intensively than would be possible with other types of chilli, allowing the aroma and colour to be fully appreciated. Kashmiri chillies are used, for example, for chicken tikka masala or tandoori dishes. However, the Kashmiri chilli powder is also wonderfully suitable as a standard chilli powder.
