Sambal Daging - Beef with chilli and ginger

Ingredients

  • 300 g Beef steak
  • 1-2 EL Red Thai curry paste
  • 2-3 EL Soya sauce
  • 2 cm Ginger
  • 1-2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 Spring onion
  • Oil for roasting

Instructions

  • Cut the beef into 3x3cm cubes and mix with the soy sauce and curry paste. In the meantime, finely chop the ginger and garlic. Slice the spring onions diagonally into fine rings and keep the green part for decoration. Peel and deseed the tomatoes and cut into small cubes. Cook the rice.
  • Fry the beef cubes in a hot pan with a little oil until they are nicely browned. Then remove again.
  • Reduce the heat and fry the ginger, garlic and the white part of the spring onion in the frying residue. Add the diced tomatoes and fry. Stir a few times and continue to fry until the tomatoes have dissolved a little. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water if necessary.
  • Finally, mix the beef cubes into the sauce and season to taste. Season with soya sauce or salt if necessary.
  • Serve the beef on jasmine rice and garnish with the green part of the spring onion.
