„Deng Long Jiao“ oder Laternen Chilis sind kurz, rund und mittelmäßig scharf. Sie werden z.B. für den chinesischen Feuertopf verwendet oder für die Herstellung von Chiliöl. Laternen Chilis sind wunderbar fruchtig scharf und können einfach im Wok oder in der Pfanne mit gebraten werden. Dabei geben sie ihren Geschmack an das Öl und dadurch auch an die anderen Zutaten ab. Sie können anschließend mitgegessen oder auch aussortiert werden. Für eine authentische Sichuan-Küche sollten nicht zu wenige davon verwendet werden und unbedingt mit Szechuanpfeffer kombinieren!
